The 8th J-AIR Network Meeting
Warm greetings to all of you as we enter the spring season.
Last year in February, with the cooperation of the British Council, we held the 7th general meeting for network members, held an open forum in the second session, and we were joined by the presence of many people interested in AIR sites. With the presence of not only managers of AIRs but also those who are interested in putting the creative potential of AIR centers to practical use, the role of AIRs became clearer and it was a great opportunity both for me and those who participated.
So, the contents of the 8th J-AIR Network Meeting, as written on the separate sheet, has been decided. This time, we have had the gracious cooperation of the Instituto Cervantes Tokio. This center is one of 70 worldwide institutions established by the Spanish Government that aims to introduce the culture and arts of Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries while also contributing to the popularization of the Spanish language.
In the general meeting for J-AIR members, we have invited guest speaker Mario Caro, currently president of the international AIR Network ‘Res Artis’, to give a talk about current trends in international AIR centers.
In the open forum of the second session, we will be given a report about the successes and the ongoing challenges facing Akiyoshidai International Art Village as it reaches its 10th year of activity, we will be given two presentations of research into AIR centers in Spain, and this will be followed by a panel discussion to delve into problems shared by all AIR centers. The program will be concluded with a talk by the photographer Chez Madoz titled ‘Talking about Chema Madoz’world’, and we will then move from the forum room to the gallery to join the start of Madoz’opening reception. While viewing the work, there will be a chance for dialogue and mutual exchange of information with the participants, so we hope to welcome many of you there.
As you can see, we have prepared a full schedule, so we very much hope you will be able to attend.
